MaRetta Mincey, OT/L, MPH.  MaRetta is an occupational therapist who has been in the field of pediatric occupational therapy for  17 years.  She received her Master's of Occupational Therapy from Columbia University of New York City in 1997.  She is a current member of the American Occupational Therapy Association. She has been a member of our team for seven years. She has extensive experience with sensory integration, visual processing, self-help skills, fine motor coordination, social skills, feeding and school based occupational therapy. MaRetta enjoys learning new and innovative techniques for providing occupational therapy and believes in the holistic approach of treating the whole child.  She enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, running, reading, photography and laughing.

Meet the Team

Ashley Pomerlee, OTR/L received a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Alcorn State University and graduated with her Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from Brenau University in 2015. She has been a member of our team since Feb 2015 and has been working in outpatient pediatrics for 1 year. She provides school-based services in the Fulton County school system. Ashley believes in the importance of collaborating with families to develop individualized plans and activities to best support the child and their family’s needs.  She strives be up to date on the latest techniques/ guidelines in order to allow each client to achieve their personalized goals. She enjoys going to sporting events, working out, traveling and spending time with her family.

Sharlene Jones is a registered and licensed Occupational Therapist who received her Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy in 1993.  She has experience in working with adults in a variety of settings including acute care (inpatient and outpatient) and geriatric facilities. She has also worked with pediatric populations in acute care and school-based settings. She considers it a blessing to be part of such a fantastic team of professionals. She is very passionate about working with children and it is her prayer that the children treated at this practice will not only live…but thrive!!!

Angela Carter has been the Administrative Assistant for Douglasville Children's Therapy  Services since July  2016. She enjoys interacting with her co workers, getting to know the clients and their parents. Learning new skills in order to improve the operation of the clinic. She enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, reading, having fun and just enjoying life.

Dr. LaBrita Cash-Baskett, CCC-SLP, AM.APMP, is the President of Fundamental Speech Therapy Services Inc., a company that provides professional communication services and programs to support the education and business community. LaBrita earned her BA and MA degrees from Hampton University and doctorate from Argosy University. She enjoys working with members of the community and providing board and civic leadership to various organizations including the Georgia Speech- Language Hearing Association (GSHA). She is committed to encouraging success and quality of life through the power of communication.

Dr. Nichole S. Edwards is a physical therapist and co/owner of DouglasvilleChildren’s Therapy Services and Associates. She received her Master's degree in physical therapy from Andrews University in 1998.  In 2013 she went on to pursue her doctorate degree in physical therapy at the College of St. Scholastica where her emphasis was childhood obesity.

As a pediatric physical therapist, Dr. Edwards feels privileged to play a role in improving/restoring function that can impact a child’s potential for life.  She has provided services for children with a variety of neurological, genetic and movement disorders, including cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, developmental delay, prematurity, torticollis, and autism spectrum disorder. She has worked with children and adults in a variety of settings including early intervention, acute care, outpatient, and rehabilitation.
Dr. Edwards has the privilege of being a clinical instructor for multiple schools in the area.  She is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).Dr. Edwards is originally from Toronto, Ontario. She enjoys spending time with family, being involved in church and has a love for travel.

Ramona P. Smith, Ed.S is a native of Atlanta and received her formative education in Atlanta Public Schools.  She received her Bachelors of Arts degree in Biological Sciences from Mount Holyoke College (South Hadley, Massachusetts);  the Masters of Education degree in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Virginia (Charlottesville, Virginia);  and the Educational Specialist degree in Administration/Supervision from the University of West Georgia (Carrollton, Georgia).
She has the Georgia Professional Standards Commission Certification(s) in Speech-Language Pathology, Leadership/Supervision, and Reading.
After 34 years of work experience in the Atlanta Public Schools System in Speech-Language Pathology and Instructions, in 2011, she joined the Douglasville Children's Therapy Services and Associates Team.
She is an ASHA Associate and a member of the Georgia Speech and Hearing Association.
She believes that communication is the key that opens the doors to success. All children are trying to express (either verbally or non-verbally) their needs and wants. It is our responsibility to listen, decode what they are telling us, and help them become more efficient and effective communicators!

Dana Harris MS, OT/L . Ms. Harris has been an occupational therapist for over 30 years specializing in the area of pediatrics exclusively for the past 18 years. She received her Bachelor’s of Science in Occupational Therapy from the University of Alabama in Birmingham in 1983 and her Master’s from Brenau University in Gainesville, Georgia in 2006. Ms. Harris has received training in the areas of sensory integration, Beckman Oral Motor, therapeutic listening, Interactive Metronome, HANDLE and NDT to name a few interventions. She enjoys collaborating with other occupational therapists, speech and language pathologists and physical therapists to facilitate better outcomes for children on her caseload. Ms. Harris also enjoys the teaching aspect of occupational therapy as it relates to both the introduction of the profession to prospective students and facilitating the educational process of those already in programs. She believes that there is always something to learn and that is it important to be open to learning regardless of how long one has been a practitioner.
In her spare time, Ms. Harris enjoys reading, spending time with family and friends, working out, listening to music, traveling, enjoying the outdoors and hanging out with Papi, her dog.
